These are true reproductions of the first editions as they were originally published in 1874 by Chapman and Hall. These stunning facsimilies published by GE Fabbri in 2004 for the Dickens Collection.

Each volume features marbled endpapers, gold gilt detailing to the covers and spines, and bound in faux leather (they have a more vinyl feel!) And, of course, are illustrated as in the original firsts.

This set is absolutely stunning, cosmetically they are free of wear and tear and blemishes, the covers seem untouched. Internally the bindings are nice and secure. There is an amount of discolouration to the edges as shown in the pictures, and this is the only fault found in this collection.
